Committees
This list will give you an idea of the many active committees in our church. For more information about a specific committee, contact the church office and ask to be put in touch with the chair.
Programming and Ministry Committees
- Adult Religious Education—Coordinates adult religious education courses
- Alternative Lifestyles Outreach—Provides support for gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals and their families
- Caring—Keeps in contact with those who are ill, infirm, or hospitalized; hosts funeral receptions
- Children's Religious Education—Coordinates programs for children and youth
- Committee on Ministry—Offers advice and support to the minister
- Hospitality—Keeps kitchen stocked and organized; coordinates coffee hour
- Library—Keeps our church library organized and cataloged
- Membership—Welcomes visitors and new members
- Public Relations—Oversees newsletter and website content; places advertising in local media
- Small Group Ministry—Coordinates the Covenant Circles program
- Social Outreach—Organizes projects to support worthy causes in our community and the world
- Special Programs—Hosts fun social events
- Worship and Music—Plans worship services; arranges for special music
Operational Committees
- Aesthetics—Coordinates interior design elements, such as selection and placement of artwork
- Building and Land Use—Handles rental agreements
- Finance—Attends to matters such as contracts, insurance, financial records, and audits
- Governance Group—Explores various models of governance for our church to consider
- History and Archives—Preserves historical records, photos, and artifacts
- Information Technology—Helps provide tech support for church computers, networks, and website
- Land Stewardship—Manages our woodland; designs and maintains landscaping; encourages the celebration of nature
- Memory Garden—Provides families with information related to scattering cremains on church land; maintains a Memory Book, Memory Wall, and Memory Garden
- Nominating—Recruits individuals to serve as officers and board members
- Office Stewardship—Ensures we have efficient, well-documented office procedures
- Personnel—Hires and supervises staff
- Pledge—Organizes and carries out annual pledge drive
- Property—Oversees building operations and maintenance
- Recognition—Gives awards and certificates to honor volunteerism in the church
- Safety and Security—Makes sure we stay safe and are prepared for emergencies
