Our Church Building

Our present church home, located at 3000 W. Richwoods Boulevard in Peoria, was dedicated on October 23, 2005. The entire congregation was involved in the decision to sell our previous property and build a new home as our gift to the future. Thus our building itself is a prime example of the democratic process at work.

The setting

Our church stands on 15 acres of woods, which we share with deer, foxes, and a variety of other wildlife. There is a strong feeling among our members and friends that nature must be honored and protected. We are dedicated to maintaining our grounds with a deep respect for its original state. The careful management of a remnant hill prairie on our land is just one example.

The Design

In planning our new building, the congregation’s input was sought on matters ranging from architectural style to the flow of the floor plan. The architects at Kenyon & Associates worked these preferences into their final design. The result is a structure that is both functional and inspiring, with Prairie Style leanings.

Our church building is a combination of “something old, something new.” Treasured elements from our previous building were carefully restored and brought to our new home. At the same time, more modern features such as accessibility and energy efficiency were high on the congregation’s list of priorities

The church has three main wings:

  • The sanctuary, which features nature-themed art glass windows.
  • A spacious Fellowship Hall with a beautiful view of the woods.
  • The children’s wing, which includes a large multipurpose space, six classrooms, a nursery, and a children’s library.
